Openfire SSL when domain is NOT the subject on the certificate

$

Having a few problems getting openfire running correctly with SSL,

Basically I have an EV certificate issued for domainA and it has a number of SAN's on it, one of which I want to host the openfire server (call it domainB)

If I set my server name to DomainB then openfire complains that "Found an RSA certificate that is not valid for the server domain" and SSL won't start

If I set my server name to DomainA then it works and I can browse to the server using 7443 on DomainA and DomainB using Chrome and I am presented with the correct certificate however I can't actually use DomainB for chatting and my log is filled with things like "Closing session due to incorrect hostname in stream header"

So is it possible to use openfire SSL with a EV certificate that is listed as a SAN not as the primary subject?

Not update user state while using s2s

Hello.

I have 2 openfire servers (4.0.1)

Created all A and SRV records in dns, and successfully connected  servers. I can add users, authenticate, send and recive messages.

Cleint1 connected to Server1

Client2 connected to Server2

I see what client state has changed on server1, when I change it on client1. Server1 send a tcp package from port 5269 to server2 and recived answer. On Cleint2 I see what client1 user's state has been changed. I see what client state has changed on server2, when I change it on client2 too, but server2 dont send this information to server1, and on the client1 user's state is not refreshed.

I test it using tcpdump - no packeges  from server2 to server1 when i change state on client2

No errors on debug log, only messages like this

016.02.17 14:51:52 org.apache.mina.filter.codec.ProtocolCodecFilter - Processing a MESSAGE_RECEIVED for session 7

2016.02.17 14:51:52 org.apache.mina.filter.ssl.SslFilter - Session Server[7](SSL): Writing Message : WriteRequest: HeapBuffer[pos=0 lim=63 cap=4096: 3C 69 71 20 74 79 70 65 3D 22 72 65 73 75 6C 74...]

2016.02.17 14:51:52 org.apache.mina.filter.executor.OrderedThreadPoolExecutor - Adding event MESSAGE_SENT to session 7

on both servers.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Sorry for my bad english and thx for help)

LONG data type is not used more in Oracle (use not recommended and may cause performance issues)

$
0
0

Long is no longer used in Oracle and only exists for compatibility with older systems.

You can only have one long field per table.

Solution: switch to CLOB or NCLOB.

     Official documentation:

Would like some openoffice developer exchange both Openfire tables as plugins the LONG type by type recommended by Oracle (LOB columns (CLOB, NCLOB, BLOB))?

LONG Datatype

LONG columns store variable-length character strings containing up to 2 gigabytes -1, or 231-1 bytes. LONG columns have many of the characteristics of VARCHAR2 columns. You can use LONG columns to store long text strings. The length of LONG values may be limited by the memory available on your computer. LONG literals are formed as described for "Text Literals".

Do not create tables with LONG columns. Use LOB columns (CLOB, NCLOB, BLOB) instead. LONG columns are supported only for backward compatibility.

Oracle also recommends that you convert existing LONG columns to LOB columns. LOB columns are subject to far fewer restrictions thanLONG columns. Further, LOB functionality is enhanced in every release, whereas LONG functionality has been static for several releases. See the modify_col_properties clause of ALTER TABLE and TO_LOB for more information on converting LONG columns to LOB.

You can reference LONG columns in SQL statements in these places:

  • SELECT lists
  • SET clauses of UPDATE statements
  • VALUES clauses of INSERT statements

The use of LONG values is subject to these restrictions:

  • A table can contain only one LONG column.
  • You cannot create an object type with a LONG attribute.
  • LONG columns cannot appear in WHERE clauses or in integrity constraints (except that they can appear in NULL and NOTNULLconstraints).
  • LONG columns cannot be indexed.
  • LONG data cannot be specified in regular expressions.
  • A stored function cannot return a LONG value.
  • You can declare a variable or argument of a PL/SQL program unit using the LONG datatype. However, you cannot then call the program unit from SQL.
  • Within a single SQL statement, all LONG columns, updated tables, and locked tables must be located on the same database.
  • LONG and LONGRAW columns cannot be used in distributed SQL statements and cannot be replicated.
  • If a table has both LONG and LOB columns, then you cannot bind more than 4000 bytes of data to both the LONG and LOB columns in the same SQL statement. However, you can bind more than 4000 bytes of data to either the LONG or the LOB column.

In addition, LONG columns cannot appear in these parts of SQL statements:

  • GROUPBY clauses, ORDERBY clauses, or CONNECTBY clauses or with the DISTINCT operator in SELECT statements
  • The UNIQUE operator of a SELECT statement
  • The column list of a CREATECLUSTER statement
  • The CLUSTER clause of a CREATEMATERIALIZEDVIEW statement
  • SQL built-in functions, expressions, or conditions
  • SELECT lists of queries containing GROUPBY clauses
  • SELECT lists of subqueries or queries combined by the UNION, INTERSECT, or MINUS set operators
  • SELECT lists of CREATETABLE ... ASSELECT statements
  • ALTERTABLE ... MOVE statements
  • SELECT lists in subqueries in INSERT statements

Triggers can use the LONG datatype in the following manner:

  • A SQL statement within a trigger can insert data into a LONG column.
  • If data from a LONG column can be converted to a constrained datatype (such as CHAR and VARCHAR2), then a LONG column can be referenced in a SQL statement within a trigger.
  • Variables in triggers cannot be declared using the LONG datatype.
  • :NEW and :OLD cannot be used with LONG columns.

You can use Oracle Call Interface functions to retrieve a portion of a LONG value from the database.

Dear Support,

Couldn't update Monitoring Service plugin to version 1.5.1.

The update is successful but when revising the plugin page (within Openfire console), the monitoring service plugin update still showing up.

Removing/Deleting the plugin is successful but the plugin comes back even if you kill the Openfire service and rerun it again.

see this error when removing the plugin:

Is it simply a matter of a checkbox in OpenFire to deselect this option?

Openfire 64 bit default installer (w/JRE8-64 bit includes)

Server platforms in 2015 already mostly 64 bit. All of them (Linux, Windows). Why default OF for Win still 32 bit? Win Server 2008R2 only 64 bit.

Memory usage with 100-150 users is up to 1500 Mb.

Yes, I want to add more users without clustering OF servers.

For several users, online contacts are showing offline for

some users do not. Any suggestions?

Message Carbons not working with Converations.im app?

$

Hi I recently upgraded Openfire to 4.01 in hopes of getting XEP-0280 Message Carbons support with my conversations.im app.  I am running Spark also.  When i am actively using Spark i get the message to my spark client but it does not get sent to my conversations app which i understand supports XEP-0280.  Is there something i need to enable on the Openfire to allow this message to be sent to Conversations also? thank you.

Disable messages from users not in roster

Simple question: is it possible to block messages from users that are not on destination user's roster on openfire server's level?

BOSH only support 500 clients

$

xmpp.client.processing.threads100
xmpp.httpbind.worker.threads500

env:

strophe.js

Openfire

when BOSH clients more than 500, CPU and memory's  usage is very low, it will give me an error, the error log like this:

nginx

is the openfire server can not handle more than 500 clients?

Openfire as a service

Is there a way to run Openfire as a service on a Windows 2008 R2 server?  As it is set up now, I cannot log out of my RDP session without ending Openfire.  And even with the best of intentions, I sometimes forget to Lock rather than Logout.

Thank you.

Openfire logging messages during processing

Hello,

I saw this message thread covering how to log messages on a server via plugins:
Openfire message logs

https://community.igniterealtime.org/thread/52953

However my question is not about persistent logging of messages, but transient logging. Are messages sent between XMPP users saved to the hard drive of the Openfire server during processing in temp files (when receiving from one user and sending to the other)? Obviously this would be a temporary file that would be deleted almost instantly, but my users are concerned about privacy and don't want their messages logged at all. Can you clarify if messages are logged to the hard drive or just RAM only when being processed during a one-to-one conversation?

Thanks!

Connection Error During Installation.

Hi everyone,

New here. Trying to install OpenFire on a VPS Centos box and I'm getting stuck at the database section. I select MySQL and nothing seems to work as far as params. I keep getting this message:

A connection to the database could not be made. View the error message by opening the "/logs/error.log" log file, then go back to fix the problem.

At this point I'm just wanting to hire someone to do this. If there is someone here that has experience with setting this up on a centos box then please let me know. I need to get this installed fairly quickly. Please have experience with ssh command line because I feel you're going to need to make changes there to get this to work.

Thanks in advance,

Rick
